Privacy policy

How Chromar Technology (Pty) Ltd collects, uses and protects personal information, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Updated October 2026.

What we collect

  • Details you give us when you use a form on this site, email or call us: name, company, email address, phone number, country and the content of your message.
  • Details needed to quote, contract, deliver, invoice and support an order, including delivery addresses and, for controlled items, end-user information.
  • If you allow analytics, anonymous usage data collected by Google Analytics (see the cookie policy).

We collect information directly from you. Where possible we tell you which details are required and which are optional.

How we use it

  • To answer your request, send datasheets and prepare quotations.
  • To carry out and support contracts with you.
  • To meet legal duties, including tax, record-keeping and export-control requirements.
  • To protect our rights and to detect and prevent fraud or misuse.

We do not sell personal information and we do not send marketing email without your consent.

Who we share it with

Only with those who help us deliver to you or who are entitled to it: our website host and email provider, couriers, professional advisers, Google (analytics, only if you allow it), and authorities where the law requires it, for example for export permits. We require service providers to protect personal information. Some of these providers, such as email and analytics services, may process information outside South Africa.

How long we keep it

For as long as we need it to answer and follow up your request, and for contract, tax and export records, for the periods the law requires. Former contacts may ask us to delete their information where no legal duty requires us to keep it.

How we protect it

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to keep personal information secure, limit access to those who need it, and review those measures as our systems change.

Your rights

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you and request a copy.
  • Ask us to correct, update or delete it.
  • Object to processing, and withdraw consent you have given.
  • Complain to the Information Regulator through inforegulator.org.za.

To make a request, email info@chromar.co.za. We may need to confirm your identity first. Requests for records under the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA) can be sent to the same address.
