Services

Chromar can take a project from system analysis to a tested lens, or handle any single stage. The stages below describe a typical project; each is available on its own.

  1. System analysis, specification and design

We optimise the lens parameters for the whole system: the object, atmospheric effects, platform motion and vibration, and the sensor. This sets the specification the lens is designed to, and often includes new concept development. Designs on our list run from 9 mm to 1,550 mm focal length, with the Kuiper series in development up to 2,500 mm.

  2. Lens design and analysis

Selecting the best lens type, then the complete prescription: glass types, radii of curvature, thicknesses, separations and diameters, with thermal and tolerance analysis.

  3. Mechanical design

The mechanics are part of the lens design. They set the alignment tolerances, the thermal behaviour and the control of stray light, glare and glint.

  4. Assembly

Assembly in laminar-flow cabinets for a dust-free environment.

  5. Testing

Every lens is verified after assembly on our in-house MTF tester, which repeats to within a few percent.

  6. Test equipment sale and hire

The same interferometer, MTF bench and collimators we use, for your own lab.
